Storytelling for the AI age

This policy describes how Winding Way Labs LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”) handles information when you use our iOS applications and websites — collectively, “the Services.”
The short version: we collect as little as possible. Our storytelling apps do not require accounts, do not require logging in, and do not track you.
No accounts. These apps do not require you to create an account or log in. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.
Location data. These apps use your device’s GPS coordinates to determine which audio chapters are nearby and to trigger location-based playback. Location data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers. Your device will ask for your permission before location data is accessed. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.
Purchases. All purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment information. We receive a transaction receipt from Apple to unlock purchased content — nothing more.
Analytics. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs. We do not track your behavior, build user profiles, or share data with advertisers.
Travel Buddy is a separate app with an AI-powered voice guide. It collects more data than our storytelling apps in order to function. This section will be separated into its own policy in a future update.
Voice audio. Travel Buddy uses your device’s microphone to enable voice conversations with the AI guide. Your voice audio is streamed in real time to our server and forwarded to Google’s Gemini AI service for processing. Voice audio is not recorded or stored — it is processed in real time and discarded when the session ends.
Camera images. In “Where Am I” mode, you can photograph landmarks or signs to ask the guide about them. Photos are sent to our server and forwarded to Google’s Gemini AI for identification. Images are processed in real time and are not stored after the session ends.
Location data. Travel Buddy sends your GPS coordinates to Google’s Gemini AI to provide contextual responses about your surroundings. Location data is processed in real time and is not permanently stored.
Third-party data sharing. When you use Travel Buddy, your voice, images (if sent), location, and place information are forwarded to Google’s Gemini AI solely to generate responses. No account identifiers, email addresses, or names are sent. Google’s use of this data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
Our websites (windingway.fly.dev, allamericanroads.com, nystories.app) serve static content and stream audio. They do not use cookies, analytics scripts, or tracking pixels. We do not collect any information about visitors.
The Services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Services or on this page.
